What is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the surgical specialists of the dental profession, complete four to six years of hospital based residency following completion of dental school. They are trained to diagnose, treat and manage the conditions, defects, and injuries of the mouth, teeth, jaws and face.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons care for patients with problem wisdom teeth, facial pain, and misaligned jaws. They treat accident victims suffering facial injuries, place dental implants, care for patients with oral cancer, tumors and cysts of the jaws, and perform facial cosmetic surgery.

The surgical staff is trained and experienced in assisting in all phases of oral and maxillofacial surgery. We are also fortunate to have a registered nurse (RN) to assist with patient care. All staff are CPR certified and our surgeons and nurses are also certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
